Reiki

An Ancient Healing Art

Reiki is a laying on of hands healing system of

incomparable ease and power. It is gentle and

noninvasive, causing no pain nor harm.

Dr. Mikao Usui, a Japanese theologist, spent years

searching for an ancient physical and spiritual healing

method. He found the original Sanskrit texts describing

the healing formula in a Zen Buddhist monastery. The

texts, however, did not include the information to activate

the energy. That knowledge was given to him during a

period of fasting meditation. Dr. Usui named the healing

energy Reiki, which means universal life force energy.

The process of attunement is what sets Reiki apart from

other forms of laying on of hands-touch healing. It is the

attunements themselves that are Reiki...passed from

 teacher to student.
